The most anticipated matchup in Week 1 of the college football season will see the Georgia Bulldogs take on the Clemson Tigers in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Both teams have legitimate championship aspirations entering the season. For Georgia, they are going to have to go to battle with some real key weapons hitting the injury report.
According to USAToday's “UGAWire,” a lot of superstar quarterback J.T. Daniels' targets are dealing with injuries of varying degrees.
Just weeks before the top-five clash, Georgia tight ends Darnell Washington and John Fitzpatrick, receivers Kearis Jackson and Jermaine Burton, defensive back Tykee Smith and center Warren Ericson went down with injuries during fall camp.
All those injuries don't include the best wide receiver for Georgia, George Pickens, who suffered a torn ACL in spring ball. It also doesn't include LSU transfer Arik Gilbert who is away from the team for personal reasons and was expected to play a huge role in the offense this year at tight end and wideout.
The good news for Georgia is that Fitzpatrick is listed as probable as is center Warren Ericson. Burton is expected to be a go as well for the Bulldogs.
Still, Kirby Smart's squad will certainly be without Pickens, Gilbert and Washington is listed as questionable.
Daniels could have more weight on his shoulders against Clemson but expect the Dawgs to rely heavily on their run game early on. The matchup between Clemson's dominant defensive line and Georgia's stout group up front will be a critical matchup to watch unravel.
