Odell Beckham Jr.‘s inability to handle his emotions is taking a toll on the New York Giants. His outbursts have resulted in a couple of taunting personal fouls, but more concerning is the dip in his play.

Usually, when Odell has one of these reactions, it comes when he's struggling to be productive. Rather than using it as motivation, Beckham's effort seems to decline in the face of adversity.

Apparently, if this sort of attitude continues, the Giants are prepared to punish Odell Beckham Jr., perhaps seriously.

Possibly benched, or even suspended?

From SB Nation's Thomas George:

Here is where the Giants are with Odell Beckham, Jr. –€” another meltdown at Green Bay on Sunday night and he will be benched. And depending on the severity of it, he could be suspended by the team for at least one game, maybe two.

Two different Giants coaches told me this on Wednesday. This has been the straight talk, the real talk with Beckham. They do not expect, however, that it will come to this. They think he gets it. They think the worst of his in-game tantrums are over.

Hopefully, these coaches are correct in their assessment that the worst of Odell's outbursts are in the past. It would be quite extreme to actually suspend him if another one occurs, rather than merely benching Beckham.

But, in their mind, it might be the only way to send a firm message to Odell that these tantrums won't be tolerated.
