New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones appreciated Baker Mayfield reaching out to him to clarify some comments that he made.

In an interview with GQ, Mayfield said he was shocked that the Giants took Jones when he did but the comments were taken out of context and in the article Mayfield also said he was shocked the Browns took him early also.

“I certainly appreciated him reaching out,’’ Jones said, via the New York Post. “I realize he said that a long time ago and there’s no telling how he said it and I trust him.’’

According to Jones, Mayfield told him via the text that it was a miscommunication and a misrepresentation of what was actually said. Jones told Mayfield that he had no hard feelings and that everything was good between the two young quarterbacks.

Mayfield said earlier this week he reached out to him because he had nothing but respect for Jones and has heard great things about the first-round pick.

“It had nothing to do specifically about Daniel,” Mayfield said via Pro Football Talk. “I reached out to Daniel because all of that blew way out of hand and I wanted him to know how I felt. I’ve heard nothing but great things from Saquon and Sterling Shepard, guys who have nothing but respect for him, and I respect their opinions. I just wanted to clear the air with him.”

It's good to hear that the air is clear because the hope is these will be two of the very best quarterbacks in the league for a very long time.
