The restrictions placed in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic have offered up its own set of challenges for teams preparing for the 2020 NFL season. Fortunately, New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones and wide receiver Darius Slayton have managed to keep their rapport going throughout the offseason.

Slayton said in an interview with Giants.com about Daniel Jones that the pair have stayed in constant contact while in quarantine and are anxious to get back to work together:

“[The chemistry] is growing. Right now we're working on him consistently answering the phone,” Slayton joked. “That's kind of the next step in our relationship. He's gotten better. I know he's working hard. I'm working hard where I am, and I know we're both ready to be back together [at the facility].”

It is encouraging to see that Daniel Jones and Darius Slayton have not allowed the ongoing pandemic to keep them from staying in touch. Any chance at a potential resurgence in the 2020 NFL season will rely heavily on their development into one of the most promising, young tandems in the league.

Slayton emerged as quite a steal for the Giants after the former fifth-round pick finished his rookie year with 48 receptions for 740 yards and eight touchdowns. He is now poised to build off his stellar season as a bonafide No. 1 option for Daniel Jones in the passing game and it seems the pair are doing what they can to keep their momentum going this offseason.

Unfortunately, it still remains to be seen if the NFL can ensure the safety of players and staff by the time training camp rolls around for Daniel Jones and everyone else.
