New York Giants cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie could be back on the field as soon as Week 7.

Earlier this week, Rodgers-Cromartie was suspended indefinitely by the Giants after reportedly throwing a tantrum on the sidelines during Week 5’s showdown with the Los Angeles Chargers.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport’s sources, Rodgers-Cromartie hurt his leg against the Chargers and was replaced in the game by a backup, something that the cornerback didn’t like, sparking his outburst. Rodgers-Cromartie was sent to the locker room and emotions flared between him and McAdoo there following the ball game. Cromartie was then labeled inactive for Week 6’s game in Denver.

McAdoo addressed his team about Rodgers-Cromartie’s situation, and while it wasn’t revealed what exactly was said, Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul insinuated to John Healy of the New York Daily News that he’s confident Rodgers-Cromartie will be playing against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 7.

“I don’t even know what happened. I just don’t know what happened,” he said. “As far as I know, he’ll be back next week.

The Giants are dealing with a bevy of injuries, particularly on offense with Brandon Marshall, Odell Beckham Jr., and Sterling Shepard all on the shelf. Suspending important pieces like Rodgers-Cromartie wouldn’t serve the Giants any good other than setting a precedent that such behavior will not be tolerated by the team.
