The New York Giants are off to yet another discouraging start to the season for the second straight campaign that has drawn even louder noise about whether quarterback Eli Manning can still be a quarterback that can lead the franchise to success.
With that in mind, BetOnline.ag has put out betting odds for Manning's status for Week 1 of the 2019 season with the favorite being him retired at that point next year.
The manner in which the Giants have performed on top of Manning's struggles throwing the ball with any consistency has made it difficult for any optimism around the situation. New York has had nothing short of major issues finding any fluidity offensively ranking 27th with 19.5 points per game along with being 18th in passing.
Their bright spots for the entire matter have been the play of rookie running back Saquon Barkley and Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. despite all the outside chatter that he has created with his comments and actions on the sidelines.
There is simply not much for the Giants to feel optimistic about at this current juncture with the team struggling to find any consistency offensively on a weekly basis. Manning's play has just been an easy target in the entire process as he has appeared to be unable to move the ball down the field. However, these have been questions that he has faced over the last two seasons as he has struggled to play at a high level.
At this point, there has been no conversation about him stepping away from the game after the 2018 season. What should also be noted is that he still has another year left on his four-year, $84 million deal that runs through the 2019 campaign. If things could at this rate, this scenario could begin to gain more traction.
