New York Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins knows his spot is safe this upcoming season and is confident he can return to an elite form. Jenkins has been with the Giants since 2015 and with his decreased production there has been some talk that he could be the latest player in the secondary to be cut, but Jenkins is ready to prove to everyone he can still play the game at a high level.

It's got to feel good for Jenkins to know his spot is safe and he can just focus on football. Giants general manager Dave Gettleman and head coach Pat Shurmur both said earlier this offseason that he is going to be a leader on defense.

“Janoris has a bunch of puppies he’s got to train,” Gettleman said via GiantsWire, adding that there’s no doubt Jenkins remains on the 53-man roster.

Shurmer has only been around him one year, but has been impressed with how much of a leader he is.

“He’ll become a good teacher. I admire Janoris. He’s tough. He’s competitive,” Shurmur added. “He always answers the bell, and I’ve gained a huge appreciation for him coaching him over the last year or so, and so just keep — put all these young guys in a room with him, and I think Janoris will be Janoris, and if these young guys are smart enough to listen, then they’re going to learn a lot of really good stuff.”

If the Giants defense is going to improve this season, a big reason is going to be the play of Jenkins.
