The New York Giants were in search of an experienced veteran to place behind Daniel Jones on the depth chart and their first choice wasn't interested in them. Earlier in free agency, Matt Moore declined a contract offer from the Giants.

The Giants recently agreed to a deal with Colt McCoy for him to become the team's backup next season. Before New York brought McCoy in, they wanted Moore to join the team. However, the veteran signal-caller wasn't interested in joining the Giants for the price they were offering.

Moore spent the 2019 season with the Kansas City Chiefs, serving as the backup to Patrick Mahomes. As a matter of fact, Moore was forced to fill in for Mahomes when the Super Bowl MVP went down with a knee injury.

In the two games that Moore started in while Mahomes was recovering, he completed 64.8 percent of his attempts for 659 yards. Additionally, the longtime backup completed four touchdowns and had zero interceptions.

Despite his contributions to the Chiefs in 2019, Kansas City decided to re-sign Chad Henne instead of Moore this offseason. Provided that, Moore is hoping to find a new home for next season. And, as it currently looks, Moore seems to want a certain amount of money before he signs with a new team.

For the Giants, they just needed someone that could provide some assurance behind Jones and McCoy can do just that. The offer that New York extended to Moore remains to be seen, but it apparently wasn't enough to get a deal done.
