The New York Giants are in a bit of a pickle right now as they are currently scheduled to face allegations of memorabilia fraud at a trial date coming on March 26. According to  Jim Baumbach of Newsday, the Giants have requested a continuance of the trial until June 11. The organization is asking to delay the trail by more than two months.

However, the Giants do have a strong reasoning on why they need to delay the court date by a little bit. According to Pro Football Talk, documents were sent to the court late last week explaining the lawyer who will be leading the council is undergoing treatment for an undisclosed illness.

Because of the illness, the Giants want to reschedule the hearing on the court until later on in the summer. As of right now, the decision to delay the court is still up in the air as the Giants will wait and see what type of judge they will get.

Like every person, every judge experiences their better days as more are lenient and others are not so much—wanting to complete the session during the first initial date.

The New York Giants also slipped in for the request to be move as Giants co-owner John Mara will be away in Orlando for the annual league meetings on the day of the first trial. Mara is one of the defendants in the lawsuit. But the Giants may have some problems with that excuse as it was not previously mentioned in selecting a court date. Lawyers might need to find themselves quickly answering questions on why the Orlando meeting was not a problem until now.

The lawsuit against the New York Giants states that the equipment managers gave helmets and jerseys to Steiner Sports that were supposedly game-used but in fact were not.
