New York Giants coach Pat Shurmur spoke on Thursday about his decision to start Daniel Jones and he seemed at peace with the decision.

“I certainly made the decision, and I had the conversation with all the parties involved,” Shurmur said. “At some point, they said, ‘Are you sure?' And I said, ‘Yeah, I'm sure.'”

According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, the one big change with this quarterback decision is everyone inside the organization is finally on board. In 2017 when Eli Manning was benched there was a lot of pushback but this time everyone knows it's time.

Shurmur said after the team's loss against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday he started considering making a change and went to co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch and general manager Dave Gettleman to discuss his plan.

“Yes, absolutely,” Shurmur said. “You don't do these things without talking to the people that you just mentioned, and Steve [Tisch] and so on.”

With Jones, there will probably be some growing pains, but with Manning, it's clear what he could offer the team, and at this point, it wasn't much.

Now Jones will get almost a full year under his belt and that will be valuable going forward. For Shurmur, it might also be enough to keep him around the big apple for another year.

If he can show some improvements with the team with Jones under center, that should allow him to get at least another year or two to work with him and the rest of the team.

Jones will get his first start on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
