The New York Giants failed to capitalize on their matchup against an undermanned San Francisco 49ers squad and lost their third straight game on a disappointing 36-9 outcome.

Giants center Nick Gates shared how the offensive line is feeling based on their recent performances:

“We’re pissed off,” he said, via Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post. “We want to be better. We don’t want to go out there and lose. We don’t want to go out there and not run the ball. We put a lot of effort and a lot of work into learning the defense. It is frustrating when you can’t run the ball and you can’t protect well.”

The team's offensive line still failed to hold their ground against opposing pass rushers even with the addition of rookie offensive tackle Andrew Thomas. The Giants also took two other offensive linemen in the draft, but neither tackle Matt Peart nor guard Shane Lemieux was able to play a significant role on the field.

Their pass protection did little to get quarterback Daniel Jones along with the rest of the offense going in the game. The Giants went scoreless in the first and fourth quarters which easily handed the win to the 49ers.

The Giants have now dropped to a 0-3 start while the 49ers improved to a 2-1 record despite having multiple injured players. Big Blue will continue with their tough schedule and aim to come out with their first victory as they visit the Los Angeles Rams on Week 4.
