We have known for quite some time that there is a strong possibility the New York Giants will be taking Dwayne Haskins with the sixth overall pick in next month's NFL Draft, but now, it might be developing into a reality.

The Giants had dinner with the Ohio State quarterback on Tuesday night, and according to Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Network, New York came away very impressed with his intelligence.

Haskins also said that the dinner went very well.

Given the fact that Eli Manning is 38 years old and is entering the final year of his contract, it makes plenty of sense that the Giants are leaning toward taking a signal-caller with their first pick, and at this point, it would be a surprise if they didn't.

Haskins is coming off of a remarkable sophomore season at Ohio State in which he threw for 4,831 yards, 50 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 70 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 174.1.

While Kyler Murray is expected to go No. 1 overall to the Arizona Cardinals, there are some who feel that Haskins is actually the best and most NFL-ready quarterback in this draft class.

The Giants won just five games this past season and have made the playoffs just once since last winning the Super Bowl during the 2011-12 campaign.

New York is currently mired in its worst overall drought in terms of success since 1980, when the Giants had missed the postseason 17 seasons in a row dating back to 1964 at that time.
