Following weeks of promising dialogue, the New York Giants on Monday morning agreed to a five-year, $95 million deal with star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

In the wake of that news, Beckham Jr. celebrated the news with his teammates in the locker room with the likes of Roger Lewis and Sterling Shepard.

It has been a long progress for Beckham Jr. to get this point before the start of the regular season as things seemed bleak back during the start of the offseason. He has since shown some tremendous progress in his recovery from a surgically-repaired left ankle along with a strong commitment to the team despite not having a long-term deal locked in place. Things had turned from him being potentially on the trading block due to a questionable off-the-field incident that he had quickly pushed behind them over the duration of the offseason.

Beckham Jr. has now secured his long-term future with the franchise as one of the main pieces to the puzzle offensively. He has established himself as one of the top players in the league at his position. Prior to suffering his ankle injury, he was on a historic pace notching at least 90 catches for 1,300 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns in each of his first three years. What this deal also indicates is that the team is quite confident that he can get back on track to playing at an elite level this season and well beyond that.

What this deal also does is help raise the bar for new deals for other star wide receivers around the league that will be in line for new extensions in the coming years such as Julio Jones and A.J. Green that are both nearing the back end of their respective contracts. This could set the table for the entire wide receiver market being reset over the next couple of years.
