The San Francisco Giants will continue their three-game series with the New York Mets on Saturday at Citi Field. We're here to share our MLB odds series, make a Giants-Mets prediction, and pick while showing you how to watch.

The Giants are coming off a good series where they took two of three from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Amazingly, they rallied from a large deficit in the finale to pull the win. San Francisco is embroiled in the wildcard race as they battle the Mets in this series.

The Mets suffered a sweep at the hands of the Cleveland Guardians. Unfortunately, they tumbled while going 2-8 over a 10-game road trip before coming home. This will be the second game of a homestand that includes the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Giants won two of three last month at Oracle Park. Now, they hope to snag the series in Queens. The Mets took two of three from the Giants at home last season and went 3-1 in 2022. Yet, the Giants swept the Mets in three games at Citi Field in 2021. Both teams will look to their starting pitchers to get the job done.

Jordan Hicks is 4-1 with a 2.38 ERA. Recently, he tossed five innings while allowing one earned run on three hits in a win over the Colorado Rockies. Hicks has reached five innings in three straight starts. However, he has had only three quality starts this season. Hicks is 2-1 with a 3.24 ERA over his last five starts.

Luis Severino is 2-2 with a 3.48 ERA. Ultimately, he went 6 2/3 innings in his last outing, allowing five earned runs on six hits while striking out three and walking three in a no-decision against the Miami Marlins. Severino has not won a game since April 12.

Why The Giants Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Giants are inconsistent at hitting the baseball. Ultimately, they are seventh in batting average, eighth in on-base percentage, and 14th in runs. San Francisco also ranks 14th in runs and 21st in home runs. Furthermore, they are eighth in home runs away from home.

Lamonte Wade Jr. is the guy that makes this lineup go. Now, he looks to do more after going 1 for 4 against the Mets last month. Wilmer Flores has displayed some struggles this season. Also, he went 2 for 7 against New York with a run in April. Tommy Estrada has always been a player who can get on base. Overall, he went 2 for 8 with a home run, an RBI, and two runs against the Mets last month and will look to clobber another one out of the park. Matt Chapman also has the power to take pitchers deep. Significantly, he went 3 for 12 with two RBIs and a run against New York in April.

The Giants have displayed inconsistent pitching. Currently, they are 25th in team ERA. Their bullpen has not done well, either. Therefore, they now rank 25th in bullpen ERA.

The Giants will cover the spread if their lineup can strike early and fast. Then, they need to hold the lead and avoid collapsing down the stretch.

Why The Mets Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Mets are looking for more at the plate. So far, they are 17th in batting average and 18th in runs. New York also ranks 16th in on-base percentage and home runs while being 19th in slugging percentage. However, the Mets are only 27th in home runs at home and last in batting average at home.

Pete Alonso has been one of the best hitters for the Mets for a long time. Additionally, he went 5 for 12 with an RBI and three runs against the Giants last month. Francisco Lindor also hopes to continue his strong season. Amazingly, he had a great series against the Giants by going 4 for 12, including a game where he had two home runs in one game. But Brandon Nimmo struggled. Unfortunately, he went 0 for 9 with three runs.

The Mets don't have the best pitching. Currently, they are 17th in team ERA. But New York also has a bullpen that has done well. So far, they are fifth in the majors in bullpen ERA.

The Mets will cover the spread if their offense can create long innings. Then, they need to avoid bad innings on the mound.

Final Giants-Mets Prediction & Pick

The Giants and Mets both went over eight runs just once in three games last month. Moreover, Severino was involved in one of those games as he went six innings while allowing three earned runs in a 5-1 loss. Hicks is also solid, giving the Giants a good chance to steal one in New York. Likewise, Severino will try and keep the score low again. But this will be a day game. Because of that, the ball might fly slightly more. Expect some runs to happen as the over covers the spread.
