John Elway has not made any ridiculous claims during his time as general manager of the Denver Broncos. His worst might have been when he said that Joe Flacco was entering his prime when he signed the 34-year old before the season. Flacco was placed on IR with a herniated disk in his neck. Denver messed around with the idea of Brandon Allen before finally making the big move.

Drew Lock seems like the forgotten quarterback of the 2019 NFL Draft. Kyler Murray was the clear No. 1 pick heading in. Daniel Jones and Dwayne Haskins drew plenty of headlines. Then there was Lock, who fell to 42nd in the draft. Through two starts, Lock has the Broncos looking like an actual offense. He is 2-0 with wins over the Los Angeles Chargers and Houston Texans. Right now, Denver has to feel pretty good about who they have under center.

Lock's Grade Through Two Starts

The Broncos signed Flacco because they did not believe that Lock would be ready at the beginning of the season. That time has passed, and there will never be a right or wrong answer, but Lock certainly looks ready now.

In his first start, Lock finished 18-28 for 184 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. The numbers do not jump off the page, but he did some good things and won a football game. Week 14 is where Lock began to open eyes. He went into Houston and completed 81.5% of his passes on the way to 309 yards and three touchdowns with one pick. The Broncos led 38-3 in that game before taking their foot off the gas in the second half. That is an incredible feat in a 23-year old's second career start as a pro.

Physically, Lock can play the position. He is 6'4 and 228 pounds with a big arm. There is no concern there. When talking about a young quarterback, his mentality comes into play. So far, the moment has not seemed too big for Lock. He has shown the ability to keep his composure both on the road and in close games. This is a huge factor and something that fans should feel good about.

It is still early for Lock. He is currently a week to week project. The Broncos will travel to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs in Lock's home state. There will be a whole new batch of judgments to make of Lock after Week 15. That is for next week. Through two starts, there is a lot to be encouraged about out of the Missouri product.
