When Briante Weber arrived in Memphis earlier this week, he was preparing to face the Memphis Hustle of the G-League, as the Sioux Falls Skyforce were slated to play against them. However, things changed quickly for him, as his agent called him and asked him to move to a different hotel, where the Memphis Grizzlies were staying.

It all happened after he logged on to Twitter and read that he had been signed by the Grizzlies to a 10-day contract, which caught him by surprise, to say the least. He recently shared the story to Michael Wallace of Grizzlies.com, which only goes to show the power of social media.

Weber went undrafted back in 2015, but worked hard to give himself a chance to play at the highest level. He took his talents to the G-League, before receiving multiple call-ups from different NBA teams over the past three years. He has had stints with the Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, Charlotte Hornets, and most recently, with the Houston Rockets earlier this season.

The 25-year-old VCU product has been playing well for the Skyforce, averaging impressive numbers of 14.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 2.1 steals in 34.3 minutes per game. He is not expected to receive a lot of playing time with the Grizzlies, but should still be able to see some court action, especially with the injuries their key players are dealing with, which has resulted to their lack of depth at the guard spot. Weber will give the coaching staff more options in the backcourt, which will help them in their quest to finish the season strong by stringing some wins together.
