Ja Morant went nuts on Monday on his way to 52 points against the San Antonio Spurs. In the process, he set and broke all sorts of Memphis Grizzlies records.

Morant scored 29 in the first half of the game, and he didn't slow down in the second half as the Grizzlies handed the Spurs a 118-105 drubbing. With his performance, not only did he set a career-high, but he also stamped a new franchise record for most points in a contest–which is also the first 50-point showing in team history.

As Stat Muse noted, that also broke a rather shocking curse for the Grizzlies. Memphis apparently had no 50-point scorer before the youngster's insane display at FedExForum.

Ja Morant held the previous Grizzlies record for most points in a game with 46, which he did only last Saturday against the Chicago Bulls. Overall in the last four games, he has averaged 40.5 points on 53 percent shooting

The 22-year-old has already proven this season that he is an All-Star. Now, by the looks of it, he is making a strong case to be included in the MVP conversation. Besides, he both has the numbers and team record to make a strong argument.

Not that Morant is chasing for it, as he looks to lead his Grizzlies deeper into the playoffs. However, it'll certainly be nice if he gets earning more recognition with the way he plays. Clearly, he is the most electrifying player in the NBA today.
