Memphis Grizzlies rookie point guard Ja Morant says he has watched his rookie highlights “100 times already.”

Fans can't really blame Morant. There's only so much you can do at home during the COVID-19 lockdown. The Grizzlies youngster says he watches his own tape to learn from his mistakes:

“I done probably watched my highlights 100 times already,” Ja Morant told SportsCenter. “I can probably tell you a play by play, but I study film and try to find mistakes and look at places I can get better at.”

Before the 2019-20 season got suspended, Morant was on his way to winning Rookie of the Year. Ja was averaging 17.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 6.9 assists for the Grizzlies while shooting 49.1 percent from the field, 36.7 percent from beyond the arc and 77.0 percent from the free-throw line.

Behind Morant and second-year big man Jaren Jackson Jr., the Grizzlies were in eighth place in the rugged Western Conference standings. Basketball fans are hoping the 2019-20 season resumes so they can watch Ja possibly play in the postseason against LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round.

Morant averaged 24.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 10.0 assists for Murray State last season. He has been making the transition from college to the pros look way too easy.

The Grizzlies are fortunate to have Morant leading the franchise in the post-Mike Conley era.
