The Memphis Grizzlies were just a Ja Morant bucket away from stealing Game 1 against the Golden State Warriors. If the opening salvo of their second round series in the NBA Playoffs is any indication, there will be more nail-biting moments between the two teams in Game 2.

Despite the tough defeat, the Grizzlies shouldn't keep their head down. They battled the much-experienced Warriors to the hilt, once again displaying their bite and resolve which catapulted them as a surprising no. 2 seed in the Western Conference.

Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins remained defiant about their chances after dropping Game 1, per the report of ESPN.

“A lot of confidence. A lot of encouragement. I told the guys I am super excited we lost by one. We did some good things and we did some things that are definitely within our control that we can do a whole lot better.”

Jenkins reiterated that they know how to claw back from adversity, especially after the Grizzlies completed several come-from-behind wins against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round.

“We have responded all season long. We responded last series. Obviously, a different level of playoffs now in the second round, but our guys have always shown that ability to turn that page, get better, understand where we need to be pissed off. But also encouraged that we played super hard, lost by one. We can beat this team if we play to the standards and capabilities that we are capable of.”

Morant has grown into one of the most competitive dudes in the NBA, and it's clear that Jenkins has emboldened the All-Star guard and the rest of the Grizzlies.
