Memphis Grizzlies rookie Ja Morant had one of his first unforgettable moments in his NBA career, as he netted a tremendous game-winner against the Charlotte Hornets to lead his side to a razor-thin 119-117 victory on Wednesday night.

Following his heroic play, Morant spoke to reporters and shared how special this moment was to him:

Morant had a lot of family and friends watching the game, and the 20-year-old surely did not disappoint, logging a team-high 23 points (10-of-15 from the field, 2-of-3 from the line) and 11 assists in 30 minutes of play.

Morant has arguably been the most impressive rookie in the entire league to start the new season, with the 6-foot-3 point guard averaging 18.3 points (on 48.3 percent shooting), 3.3 rebounds, and 5.8 assists.

Morant, the second overall pick of last June's draft, has outplayed the likes of fellow rookies Kendrick Nunn of the Miami Heat and Eric Paschall of the Golden State Warriors. With New Orleans Pelicans phenom Zion Williamson currently expected to be out for at least a couple more weeks, Morant is already laying his claim as an early favorite for this season's Rookie of the Year award.

This victory is now the Grizzlies' second straight win, following a 113-109 away victory against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday. Currently at 4-7, Memphis has not had the best of starts this season, but perhaps this winning streak is the start of something inspiring for the Grizzlies moving forward.
