When a defender hits an offensive player on the head, the referees will most certainly issue at least a foul call. However, that was not the case when New Orleans Pelicans guard Lonzo Ball clipped Memphis Grizzlies sophomore Ja Morant in the second quarter of their game on Saturday night.

As seen in a video that is now going viral, the officials did not blow the whistle on the obvious foul from Ball. After the Grizzlies' 119-109 defeat to the Pelicans, the 2019-20 Rookie of the Year winner expressed his disgust on the absurd no-call from the referees.

The referees really screwed up with the no call. As the broadcast crew said, a flagrant foul should have been called on that play.

Nevertheless, the missed call didn't really have a major impact on the game. Ja Morant struggled mightily throughout the evening, going for just 16 points on 5-of-14 shooting. While he did tally nine assists, he was a game-worst minus-25 in 31 minutes of action for the Grizzlies.

The 6-foot-3 high-flyer is now in the midst of a pretty rough stretch, with the Grizzlies going on a three-game losing skid following Saturday's loss to the Pelicans. In those three defeats, Morant averaged just 13.7 points on 33.3 percent shooting from the field.

For what it's worth, Morant has struggled since returning from an ankle injury that he suffered three games into the season. After dropping 44 and 28 points to open the 2020-21 campaign, Morant is only averaging 15.3 points since returning from a two-week absence.

Morant and the Grizzlies will look to return to their winning ways as they host the Toronto Raptors on Monday. Hopefully, the referees won't have another major blunder again.
