Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant tweaked his ankle pretty badly in the second quarter of Sunday's 116-111 overtime victory over the Brooklyn Nets. Following the game, Morant seemed to be in good spirits as he sent out an inspirational tweet to reassure Memphis fans that he's going to come back stronger than ever.

It was definitely a scary sight as Morant limped after landing on Nets guard Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot's foot during a block attempt. Last year's Rookie of the Year immediately left the court and grimaced in pain as he laid on the floor. He didn't put any weight on his foot and needed to be wheel-chaired back to the locker room.

Luckily, initial X-rays on Morant's foot reportedly showed no fractures, but the 6-foot-3 high-flyer will get an MRI on Tuesday to see the extent of the damage.

Despite the pretty bad ankle injury, Morant still returned to the Grizzlies bench midway through the fourth quarter wearing a protective boot. He watched as his teammates fended off a tough Brooklyn Nets squad that played without their two stars in Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

In Morant's absence, forward Kyle Anderson stepped up and led Memphis with 28 points, seven rebounds, and four 3-pointers. Dillon Brooks chipped in 24 points, while sophomore forward Brandon Clarked stepped in with 16 points off the bench.

This was certainly a bummer, especially for Morant, since he was having such a strong start to his sophomore campaign. The young stud opened the season with a valiant 44-point performance in a losing effort to the San Antonio Spurs. Morant followed that up with a 28-point night, but just fell short in a blockbuster match-up with Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks last Saturday.

Prayers up for Ja Morant.
