Even after a hard-fought, physical series in the second round of the NBA playoffs, the Memphis Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors have nothing but respect for each other. Ja Morant's absence ended up being too much for the Grizzlies to overcome but they gave the Dubs a very hard time. Even with the mutual respect, there was plenty of animosity and trash talk throughout the series.

One source of trash talk is the Grizzlies‘ “Whoop That Trick” slogan, which fans at FedExForum sing during timeouts. The song has been touted plenty of times by the Warriors. Draymond Green even danced around to it during a timeout.

Most recently, Warriors rookie Jonathan Kuminga tweeted it after Golden State clinched the series.  Morant, though, said that Kuminga needs to get some more experience under his belt before he talks trash about the Grizzlies like that.

In fairness to Kuminga, he has done more in the playoffs than any player at his age previously has. He certainly has room to grow but also stepped right in and provided key minutes for a Warriors team heading to the conference finals. Ultimately, he has the last laugh over the Grizzlies as his team advances in the NBA playoffs.

Morant and the Grizzlies had a great season. Tons of young players led the way and several of them, Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Desmond Bane among the most noteworthy, took huge leaps in their games. They embraced a hard-nosed style of play and were not afraid of any opponent. The future is very bright for Memphis.
