The Memphis Grizzlies may have failed to make it past the second round against the Golden State Warriors, but Jaren Jackson Jr. and Dillon Brooks know very well it is not the end for them as things are only getting started.

Without Ja Morant leading the way, the Grizzlies were unable to build the momentum they got in Game 5 and succumbed to the Warriors in Game 6, 110-96. Brooks top-scored for the team with 30 points, while JJJ got 12 in the heartbreaking defeat.

Still, the Grizzlies are not getting discouraged. In fact, they expect to be playoff contenders in the years to come and title contenders pretty soon given the growth they made this 2021-22.

“A team like the Warriors I’ve been watching win for a long time. But now I’m here. Now we’re here. We’ll see them again,” Jaren Jackson Jr. said, per Drew Hill of the Daily Memphian.

As for Brooks, he is confident they have gained the respect of the Warriors. He also reminded everyone that they are a young team that will soon take over, especially with teams like the Dubs getting old.

“They know we are coming every single year. We are young, they are getting old,” Dillon Brooks added.

The Grizzlies undoubtedly has every reason to hold their head high despite the defeat. No one expected them to content this early with the young team they have, but they finished second in the Western Conference and proved to everyone they should be feared.

Their latest playoff loss should only be a learning experience for them. Sure enough, they'll be a deadlier team next playoffs.
