The Memphis Grizzlies reportedly did not mention Dillon Brooks at all in the wild trade deal that eventually fell through for Phoenix Suns forward Trevor Ariza.

In what has undoubtedly been one of the craziest trade discussions in recent history in the NBA, Ariza was initially expected to head to the Washington Wizards in a deal that would've also included the Grizzlies.

But according to multiple reports from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, there was confusion on the Suns' part as to whether they'd be getting Dillon Brooks or MarShon Brooks.

That led to a follow-up report that the Suns thought they were getting Dillon, while the Grizzlies thought they were sending MarShon.

In case you aren't confused enough yet, that led to more reports surfacing that the Grizzlies never actually mentioned Dillon at all during the discussions between the teams.

Here's more from David Aldridge of The Athletic:

Told Memphis “never” discussed Dillon Brooks with anyone in construction of the trade, and always were talking MarShon with everyone involved. Grizziles “at a loss” to understand the confusion.

So, where exactly do things stand as of right now?

Well, it's obvious that this particular deal is not going to happen, which means that Ariza will remain with the Suns for the moment.

Of course, it also means that both Dillon and MarShon will stay with the Grizzlies, and there's no doubt the locker room will be buzzing prior to Saturday night's game against the Houston Rockets based on all the wackiness surrounding this ridiculous deal.
