According to a Sunday evening report from Royce Young of ESPN.com, the Memphis Grizzlies will be short-handed taking on the surging Oklahoma City Thunder. With the Sunday evening matchup slated to tip off in Oklahoma City, the Grizzlies will be without starting point guard Mike Conley, who will remain along the sideline due to “general soreness.”

It is worth noting that the Thunder will be shorthanded as well, with All-Star swingman Paul George already being ruled out for the Western Conference clash due to right shoulder soreness.

The talk of the town ahead of this year's NBA Trade Deadline, the veteran point guard wasn't eventually dealt by the Grizzlies, a team that has housed Conley for his entire NBA career. Conley was originally selected by the Grizzlies with the No. 4 overall pick in the first round of the 2007 NBA Draft out of Ohio State. As it stands today, the 31-year-old signal caller has spent a total of 12 NBA seasons in Memphis as a member of the Grizzlies.

Conley has already made 61 regular season appearances for the Grizzlies thus far into the 2018-19 campaign. He has started each of those games en route to averaging 33.3 minutes per outing. Currently averaging an even 20 points per game this season, he is also producing 6.3 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals per contest.

For his NBA career as a whole, Conley has appeared in 779 regular season games in all while averaging 14.7 points, 5.7 assists, 2.9 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 32.6 minutes per outing. He has also started 748 of his 779 regular season appearances atop the highest level.
