Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley won his first Player of the Week award for his performance from Week 21 and the veteran guard says it was a “pretty cool” moment.

Last week, Conley averaged 31.3 points, 7.7 assists and 1.3 steals while shooting 57.4 percent from the field, 55.6 percent from beyond the arc and 78.6 percent from the free-throw line.

The Grizzlies went 3-0. Conley only played in 12 games last season after undergoing surgery to smooth a small bone protrusion in his left heel. The lefty says he's proud of the way he's bounced back from the injury.

“To do it coming off a year where it was probably the hardest year of my life with the injury and the surgery, not knowing how you’re going to come back for it,” Conley told Omari Sankofa II of The Athletic. “To get one the year after something like that happens in your 12th year, when everyone tells you you’re supposed to be slowing down, you’re just defeating the odds in a sense.

“It’s pretty cool to have that kind of honor at this point in my career.”

Memphis is having another down season, but Mike Conley has been playing really well.

Conley is averaging 20.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game.
