Washington Wizards head coach Scott Brooks had some high praise for Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley while he was speaking to reporters ahead of their matchup at Capital One Arena.

Brooks says Conley is “the best player in the NBA for the last six or seven years never to make an All-Star team,” via Fred Katz of The Athletic:

Mike Conley has been putting up solid numbers his entire playing career, but because he plays in the Western Conference, Conley hasn't been able to make an All-Star team since there are so many elite guards in the West.

The Grizzlies are going to finish with one of the worst records in the NBA again this season, but Conley has been playing well all year. The lefty is averaging 20.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game for Memphis while shooting 43.3 percent from the field, 35.8 percent from beyond the arc and 84.6 percent from the free-throw line.

It's been a great bounce back season for Conley, who only played in 12 games last season due to a small bone protrusion in his left heel. The veteran guard underwent surgery on it.

The Grizzlies traded Marc Gasol at the February trade deadline. Conley could be moved in the summer.
