After a 5-1 start to the 2017-18 NBA season — including wins over the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets (twice) — the Memphis Grizzlies are currently on an eight-game losing streak. Despite a fairly new roster and Mike Conley out indefinitely with an Achilles injury, the Grizzlies fired head coach David Fizdale following a 7-12 record.

Now, all the attention is on Marc Gasol's future in Memphis after he was benched in the team's 98-88 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. According to Chris Mannix of Yahoo Sports, the Grizzlies have not shopped Gasol despite teams inquiring about him:

For now, there is value there; while the Grizzlies have not shopped Gasol, teams have inquired about him, only to be rebuffed.

After making the playoffs seven consecutive seasons, the Grizzlies are at a crossroads. While Gasol has been an integral part of the team's success, he has a player option for the 2019-20 season where he will be 34 years old. With the team currently struggling, it will be interesting to see if they continue to build around Gasol or embrace a full rebuilding process.

With JB Bickerstaff now the team's interim head coach, there are still challenges ahead of them. In the most recent update, Conley is not expected to return ‘anytime soon' for the Grizzlies.
