In the NBA, watching an incredible block can be just as entertaining as a dunk sometimes. On Monday night, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Memphis Grizzlies engaged in a MLK Jr. Day showdown. Although the affair didn't feature Lonzo Ball, who is out with a knee injury, Deyonta Davis may have just recorded the play of the night. It was unfortunately at the expense of Jordan Clarkson.

The tweet is correct. If you listen closely you can hear the thud of Davis' block. However, without playing the video, you can plainly see Davis waiting patiently near the baseline, anticipating the nerve of Clarkson to invade the paint for an easy layup. Clarkson is known as an aggressive, ball-dominant shooting guard, and his reputation didn't help him in this particular play. The defense read the layup and Clarkson should have passed out for a wide-open look since he took advantage of a mismatch. Instead, he got his shot sent to the nearest black-hole as Davis stared down at him to silently gloat over his victory.

Hopefully, Clarkson can recover from this and help the Lakers defeat the Grizzlies on a special day for the NBA and the Civil Rights Movement. It should not be forgotten that Martin Luther King Jr. was born on Monday, and he led the way for the enfranchisement of African Americans across the United States. Now, everyone can enjoy the NBA, with players from all races and backgrounds. Surely, fans that are celebrating this landmark day can take note of Davis' monstrous block as the Grizzlies look to take a win on King's birthday.
