The Toronto Raptors announced Thursday they will be playing the remainder of their home games this season in Tampa due to COVID-19 and the public safety measures in Canada.

This news immediately had some wondering if Kyle Lowry will ever play another game in Toronto as a member of the Raptors:

Trade rumors have recently popped up involving Lowry, with some in the Raptors organization thinking the franchise would be better off trading their All-Star. Toronto has rebounded after a slow start this season to get back to 12-13, but Lowry is 34 years old and on a large expiring contract.

As noted by Sam Quinn of CBS Sports, Pascal Siakam, Fred VanVleet, and OG Anunoby have the potential to form the foundation of another championship run, and a Lowry trade could help the Raptors turn to the future. Lowry would be a valuable addition to any contender, as teams such as the Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, and Philadelphia 76ers are searching for a more traditional point guard to help for a deep run in the playoffs.

Lowry, who helped the Raptors secure their first NBA championship in 2019 against the Golden State Warriors, has been invaluable to the franchise. However, the 34-year-old veteran may soon find himself parting ways with the franchise as Toronto looks ahead.

It would certainly be a shame if Lowry isn't able to play another game with the Raptors in Toronto, and this situation will be one to monitor as the March 25 trade deadline approaches.
