An old video of Ben Simmons thrashing the Atlanta Hawks resurfaced and went viral once again. After all, it was Simmons' Philadelphia 76ers that got destroyed by Atlanta in their recent 2021 playoffs series.

The said clip in question was from 2018, Simmons' rookie season after a redshirt year in 2016-17. The Sixers playmaker was streaming his PUBG game and was asking Karl-Anthony Towns to join him, but the Minnesota Timberwolves big man was hesitant because they have a game the following day.

Simmons then asked who they were playing, and KAT responded it was the Hawks. In a hilarious dig, the Aussie point-forward said “you've got plenty of time” before laughing out loud.

Three years later, however, it was the Hawks who are laughing now.

Atlanta eliminated the Sixers from playoff contention in seven games, taking the do-or-die Game 7 with a 103-96 win. Ben Simmons has also been largely criticized for his performance in the series, with fans and experts alike blaming his lack of aggressiveness on the offense as one of the reasons  for the loss.

Fort what it's worth, though, the Hawks were bottom-feeders in 2017-18 and actually finished with the worst record in the East. Also, the Towns and the Timberwolves easily beat the Atlanta franchise in the game (126-114) following that hilarious interaction with Simmons.

However, that record actually paved the way for the Hawks to have a high pick in the 2018 draft where they got Trae Young. Now, the team is heading to the conference finals while Simmons is back home probably playing video games.
