San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich has some high praise for Atlanta Hawks rookie point guard Trae Young.

The Spurs are in Atlanta on Wednesday to take on the Hawks. While meeting with reporters pregame, Popovich said Young is a fun guy to watch play basketball.

Anytime you can get Popovich to compliment your game, you are doing something right.

Trae Young has been on fire since January, and he's proving all the critics who said he wasn't going to shine in the NBA wrong. The Hawks' floor general was the Rookie of the Month in February after averaging  23.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 9.3 assists per game.

Overall on the season for Atlanta, Young is putting up 18.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 7.8 assists while shooting 41.5 percent from the field, 33.5 percent from beyond the arc and 81.9 percent from the foul line. The 20-year-old has recorded 21 double-doubles this campaign and leads all rookies in assists per game and total assists.

It's another rebuild season for the Atlanta franchise, but the development of Young has been a huge bright spot for the team. Popovich and the Spurs — who are fighting for a playoff spot — will have to contain Young if they want to defeat the Hawks on Tuesday.
