The Atlanta Hawks had long been linked with Dejounte Murray this offseason, and on Wednesday, they finally got a deal done with the San Antonio Spurs. Naturally, Trae Young was hyped.

Atlanta sent Danilo Gallinari and three first-round draft picks, as well as a pick swap, to San Antonio in exchange for the young guard. It was quite the move since the Hawks didn't have to part ways with John Collins in the process.

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Young was “ecstatic” about the development, with the team believing that having the 25-year-old guard will help Ice Trae elevate his game further.

For what it's worth, as rumors spread that the Hawks and Spurs are talking about a potential deal, it was reported that Trae Young and Dejounte Murray wanted to play together. Both players are represented by Klutch Sports.

Now, they got their wish as the Hawks now possess one of the most intriguing and potentially lethal backcourt duo in the NBA.

Losing three first-round picks can be a little hard, but for a player of Murray's caliber, it can be worth it. Remember, the Hawks were just one series away from reaching the 2021 NBA Finals.

Of course it remains to be seen how Murray will pan out playing alongside Young and if their combination can live up to expectations. But sure enough, Atlanta fans have every reason to be excited.
