Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young wants to see veteran small forward Vince Carter compete in the 2020 Slam Dunk Contest, which will be in Chicago.

Carter is retiring from the NBA after this season ends, so Young believes competing in the Dunk Contest is a great way for Carter to end his career:

Everyone will always remember Carter's epic dunk performance in the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest, when he won with relative ease by performing dunks that captivated the entire world.

Michael Jordan, Dominique Wilkins, LeBron James, Blake Griffin and Gerald Green are some of the other best in-game dunkers in NBA history, but Carter was on another level during his prime years with the Toronto Raptors and New Jersey Nets. James said last season that Carter is no doubt the best in-game dunker in NBA history.

More than three decades have passed since Jordan defeated Wilkins in the 1988 Slam Dunk Contest in The Windy City. It would be cool to see Carter put on a show at the United Center in February for NBA fans. While he shot down the idea in the offseason, perhaps he changes his mind.

Vince Carter entered the league back in 1998 with the Toronto Raptors. He has career averages of 16.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 1,510 games with the Raptors, Nets, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings and Hawks.
