Vince Carter retained the role of NBA's older player when he reached terms with the Atlanta Hawks on a one-year, $2.4 million deal.

Carter has been playing for so long that some younger viewers might have to rely on YouTube to see Carter play in his prime, and some of Vinsanity's new teammates are in the same boat.

In fact, the sixth pick of the 2018 draft Trae Young wasn't even born when Carter was drafted. Vince Carter was drafted on June 24, 1998.  Young wasn't born until September 19, 1998, meaning Carter had been an official NBA player for three months already.

The knockdown shooter out of Oklahoma isn't the only player on the roster that could be Carter's son.

John Collins, the Hawks 2017 draft pick, is only 20 years old, born a year and four days before Carter heard his name called at the draft. Guard Kevin Huerter is even younger, only 19 years of age.

While Carter will almost certainly get some good-natured ribbing on account of his age and hair loss, he could play a large role in developing these young players on the roster.

The Hawks are in no position to compete for a championship at this point, and it's definitely not a guarantee that they even make the playoffs.

Keeping that in mind, the best thing for the organization to do is to develop these picks as best as they can.  Trae Young, in particular, has an immense amount of talent and the Hawks are banking on him becoming the next sharpshooting super-star.

Vince Carter's glory days might be over, but he could still have a priceless impact on shaping the next generation of stars.
