The Atlanta Hawks had lofty expectations heading into the 2021-22 campaign after a surprise run to the Eastern Conference Finals last season. Things haven't gone to plan for the Hawks, however, and the team currently finds themselves in 13th place in the East at 16-20. In order to turn the season around and fight for a spot in the playoffs, the Hawks may look to be active at the trade deadline in February, and Sam Amick of The Athletic reports that two key players could be made available.

Amick reports that the Hawks would be willing to offload the likes of Danilo Gallinari and Cam Reddish in a 2-for-1 trade in order to thin out the rotation and bring in an “impact player.” Gallinari is only due to earn $5 million in guaranteed money next year, though if he remains on the Hawks' roster he'll be due $21.45 million, making him an ideal candidate to ship off at the deadline.

Reddish, on the other hand, is still on his rookie contract and would become a restricted free agent ahead of the 2023-24 season. The third-year winger is enjoying his best season thus far into his NBA career, averaging 12.5 points and knocking down 1.8 3's per game at a 38.6% clip. With the backlog at the wing in Atlanta, Reddish seems the most likely trade piece to get dealt, and should have an ample about of suitors interested in bringing him on board.

The Hawks look a far cry from the team that stunned the league en route to the Eastern Conference Finals last year. If they hope to right the ship this season, it may require them to part ways with some of their depth in order to add some quality to the starting lineup.
