Hearthstone pro player and grandmaster Paul “Zalae” Nemeth will not compete in the near future. Blizzard gave the grandmaster an indefinite suspension, citing “allegations” against the Hearthstone pro.

BLIZZARD SUSPENDS ZALAE FROM HEARTHSTONE DUE TO UNSPECIFIED ALLEGATIONS

The Twitter account of Hearthstone Esports made an announcement late April 8. The tweet reads: “Hearthstone Esports is aware of allegations made against Americas Grandmaster, Paul ‘Zalae' Nemeth. Upon further review, we have suspended Zalae from competing in all Hearthstone Esports events.”

The announcement came just a day before the start of the 2021 Hearthstone Grandmaster tournament. The post didn't specify how long the suspension will be. Blizzard's representatives will continue investigating the issue.

Meanwhile, Hearthstone Esports hasn't specified what the allegation that caused Zalae's suspension is. However, last January, Zalae's former partner Rini alleged that Zalae physically and emotionally abused her during the time they lived together. Although Blizzard didn't make any announcements back in January to respond to the allegations. Meanwhile, Zalae responded to the allegations during a live stream back in January. “I don’t want to hurt my ex-girlfriend,” says Zalae. “So I won’t say bad things about her publicly. Is this reasonable enough?”

As for Rini, she tweeted about how she is proud of women who have spoken out against their much more influential partners. “To all women out there who have spoken up about a man despite him having more clout or followers than you – I am so proud of you. Thank you to previous women who came out & gave ME the strength to do so as well.”

This isn't the first time Blizzard took action against a professional player because of abuse allegations. Just last month, Blizzard also took action against former Overwatch pro player after sexual abuse allegations came to light. Blizzard issued full refunds for the skins made and sold to celebrate sinatraa's MVP award.
