Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo says his friendship with Milwaukee Bucks superstar small forward Giannis Antetokounmpo materialized “because we started respecting each other’s games.”
Adebayo and Antetokounmpo have the same agent. The Heat big man says he and Giannis have a mutual respect of each other and are becoming close friends off the court as a result.
“We’ve got the same agent and I feel like it started because we started respecting each other’s games. When we go at it, it’s like force meets force,” Adebayo told Shandel Richardson of The Athletic. “There’s no back down from either one of us. When you play against dudes like that, it’s a grind but you start to respect him because he’s not backing from me and I’m not backing down from him. It came from mutual respect of each other.”
Giannis Antetokounmpo won the 2019 MVP award and led the Bucks to the best record in the NBA during the regular season. Bam Adebayo and the Heat, meanwhile, failed to make the playoffs in Dwyane Wade's final season in the NBA.
The main reason members of the Heat front office love Adebayo is because of his competitive spirit. He doesn't shy away from a challenge and loves to compete against the best players in the game like Antetokounmpo.
