As Goran Dragic continues to be bothered by a recurring knee issue, the Miami Heat are starting to consider sidelining him for an extended period of time.

Goran Dragic already missed two games earlier this November due to the right knee issue. He returned and played for four straight matches for the Heat, but he re-injured his knee during Friday’s loss to the Indiana Pacers.

The 32-year-old point guard complained that the swelling on his knee had returned, forcing Miami to sit him out in their latest meeting with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Now, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the Heat are set to conduct tests on Dragic’s injury to determine the best route to take in dealing with the issue. The team is also reportedly looking at the option of giving Dragic more time to rest and recover.

Dragic has played and started in 12 games this 2018-19 campaign. He is currently the team’s assists leader (4.7) and second-leading scorer (16.3). Interestingly, Miami is only 1-2 this season in games without their lone true point guard.

In his absence, Tyler Johnson and Wayne Ellington are expected to pick up the slack. The Heat are also hopeful to address their ball-handling problems with the possible return of Dwyane Wade this week.
