Veteran guard Goran Dragic quickly became a fan favorite during his stint with the Miami Heat. His meek personality, devil-may-care drives, and underrated toughness made him a quintessential player for the famous Heat culture.

But as they say, all good things must come to an end. Dragic was let go by the Heat in the offseason to acquire Kyle Lowry from the Toronto Raptors. Obviously, it was not an easy decision to make, considering Dragic has given so much to the squad in seven seasons.

For Heat coach Erik Spoelstra, however, there's no need to sugarcoat their decision to trade Dragic (via Miami Herald).

“At the end of the day, this is a bottom-line business. It’s about winning.”

But Spoelstra, who has steered the Heat to two NBA titles, also clarified that there are no ill feelings between him and Dragic. He even shared a story about how he met the family of the shifty playmaker.

“But you really also want to be able to develop meaningful lasting relationships. That’s the part that you treasure the most. That’s the most gratifying in this profession for all of us, when you have these shared experiences that build incredible. That’s what I have with Goran. I think back to obviously the really competitive experiences we had in the playoffs. But equally as important and equally as gratifying to me are the trips over to Slovenia and visiting him and his family, and seeing where he was from, how he is and how people respond to him in his country. It was really cool.”

Dragic averaged 18.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game in his productive tenure with the Heat.
