The Miami Heat continue to deal with unforeseen setbacks in recent days. They lost to the streaking Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night, 105-90, and the defeat could prove even costlier. Jimmy Butler returned after a four-game absence due to a tailbone injury, but his comeback wasn't exactly as envisioned.

Butler suffered a hard fall in the first quarter on a missed layup. He tried to play it through but he was forced to leave the game in the middle of the third quarter.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra rued the development, with Butler reaggravating his tailbone injury. Spoelstra also called out the officiating (via ESPN).

“He (Butler) drew contact and got shoved and landed on his tailbone again. There could not have been a worst scenario for us to start the game. It is a contact sport. It's an unpredictable thing. Insult to injury, we didn't get the call on that either. But he definitely re-aggravated it. You can tell from that point on he was not his usual self. So we'll re-evaluate him (on Tuesday) and see where we are.”

It's unusual for the mild-mannered Spoelstra to rail against a missed call, but perhaps it's the frustration speaking. Aside from Butler, the Heat are already missing star center Bam Adebayo for an extended period due to a thumb injury.

The Heat have been up-and-down lately, dropping to 14-11. They are facing a tough 10-game Eastern Conference stand and they need Jimmy Butler to be at full strength.
