The Miami Heat managed to dodge a bullet with guard Justise Winslow's injury. However, it appears he will not be able to play against the Detroit Pistons.

Winslow sprained his knee during Miami's 106-102 loss to Philadelphia on Thursday. According to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, he will sit out tonight against Detroit:

Justise Winslow will not play tonight after spraining his knee late in Thursday's loss to 76ers. MRI yesterday was clean.

This is undoubtedly an unfortunate loss for Miami. Winslow was beginning to find his rhythm as the team's starting point guard with Goran Dragic still dealing with injury. Fortunately, the Heat can take solace in the fact that he is not expected to be out for too long.

Winslow has started 26 games at point guard this season. The switch to being a primary ballhandler has been a seamless transition for the former wingman. Even Dragic has been admittedly impressed with the strides he has made thus far and is even willing to play off the ball when he returns.

There is no question that the Heat boast tremendous talent in their backcourt. Aside from Winslow and Dragic, guards Dion Waiters, Derrick Jones Jr., and Dwayne Wade have all played integral roles for Miami this season.

Unfortunately, they have not been able to play much together due to injuries. Even with Dragic set to make his return, it could be a few games before Winslow is back.

The Heat will need to find a way to get on the same page quickly if they hope to make the playoffs.
