It's been more than seven months since Meyers Leonard was embroiled in a controversial scandal after he uttered an anti-Semitic slur during a live Twitch stream. It's been a long and hard journey for the former Miami Heat big man since, and right now, he's opened up about the horrendous experience he went through after the incident.

According to Leonard, he received death threats from several anonymous sources. To make matters worse, these people also threatened to rape his wife:

“When the death threats and my wife’s being told, ‘Don’t leave your house, we’re gonna rape you,’ and these things, it was hard,” Leonard said (h/t Sam Leweck of Heat Nation). “So a lot of these things are difficult to share, but over time, I’ve been able to heal.”

The bit about the horrifying death threats was just a brief part of the interview as Meyers Leonard opened up about the journey he's taken since that unfortunate incident. It is clear that he regrets his actions, and he's put in quite an effort to try and atone for his indiscretion.

Unfortunately for Leonard, NBA teams have still been reluctant to have anything to do with him. After being traded and eventually waived last season, Meyers has been unable to find a new team in the league. It looks like he's genuinely sorry for what he did, so perhaps this guy deserves a second chance?
