The Miami Heat is tipped as one of the possible destinations for Chris Paul if the Oklahoma City Thunder decide to trade the superstar point guard again.

Paul was dealt to the Thunder along with two first-round picks and two pick swaps in exchange for Russell Westbrook. But according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Thunder will likely continue searching for a trade for Paul with Miami as a possible deal partner.

The Thunder are expected to find it hard to move Paul because of his expensive contract. The nine-time NBA All-Star turned 34 in May, and is still tied to a three-year, $124 million contract. It is also worth noting that he is coming off the worst season of his career in terms of scoring after averaging just 15.6 points in 58 games last season.

However, the Thunder could “incentivize” a deal for Paul using the draft picks that they acquired in the recent trades that they struck. In the deal for Westbrook, the Thunder got 2024 and 2026 first-round picks. They also secured four unprotected first-round picks and one protected first-round pick in a deal with Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday.

If the Heat finds a deal for Paul, they will have their own superstar duo in South Beach. Miami earlier acquired Jimmy Butler in a sign-and-trade agreement with the Philadelphia 76ers.
