The Miami Heat will have another player included on their injury list, as promising young forward Okaro White has reportedly fractured the fifth metatarsal in his right foot, and will require surgery to repair it, according to Bobby Marks of ESPN. There’s no timetable set for his return, but he will most likely miss a significant amount of time this season.

After going undrafted back in 2014, the Florida State product took his talents to the G-League, where he emerged as an All-Star, and one of the better forwards there. He received a call up from the Heat last season, and impressed Erik Spoelstra and his staff, leading to his signing for the rest of the campaign, and eventually for this year as well.

In the six games he appeared in this season, White averaged 3.3 points and 1.8 rebounds in 13.3 minutes, and has been providing the Heat with a lot of energy and hustle whenever he’s fielded in. His ability to crash the boards and score on easy baskets will be missed by the team, as well as the depth he brings to their forward rotation.

Bam Adebayo and Kelly Olynyk are expected to see an uptick in their minutes at the power forward position during White’s absence. However, the Heat may also sign a player soon, as they still have their mid-level exception available, and a roster spot open, with Rodney McGruder also out with injury.
