The Miami Heat, along with the Phoenix Suns, are on top of Kevin Durant's list of preferred trade destinations. Unfortunately, there is one problem that could prevent the South Beach franchise from landing the superstar forward.

According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, Durant would only be interested in playing for the Heat if they keep their core players. That means Miami will have to find a way to trade for KD while keeping Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo and Kyle Lowry.

Durant, it seems, would only want to play on a Heat team that includes Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo and Kyle Lowry. So even if the Heat were willing to move Butler in a deal as a way of satisfying the Nets’ (understandably pricey) request, doing so would leave Durant discontented from the start.

The Nets are asking for a massive package in any trade for Kevin Durant, and they would only be willing to move the 33-year-old scorer for the right price–one that includes a young player and at least three firs-round draft picks.

Furthermore, considering what the Utah Jazz got from the Minnesota Timberwolves in their Rudy Gobert deal, the Nets' asking price and Durant's market value could increase more and get steeper.

As Amick mentioned, any deal for KD would have required the Heat to at least part ways with Jimmy Butler or perhaps any of their core players. With that said, it could really prove tricky for the Miami franchise.

For what it's worth, if the Heat fail on their Durant chase, it has been rumored that they are ready to make a run for Donovan Mitchell.

As things currently stand, fans have to wait and see what the Heat's next move will be.
