Technology, over the last several years, has continued to steadily improve to the point where it has expanded into unique new footwear being released.

Charlotte Hornets big man Dwight Howard has gotten himself involved with the development of shoes that were partially created by 3D printers. His latest shoe, DH3, was recently made in collaboration with Chinese sportswear brand PEAK.

Howard's new shoe is set to be released in different types with a red pair (which is not 3D printed) and a white pair of sneakers (which do include 3D printed sections). The shoes were created by using selective laser sintering 3D printing technology.

These will not be donned by Howard or any other player for that matter on the court at this moment, but it could be a possibility down the line. There is no indication if they will be sold commercially by the shoe company.

PEAK had initially begun to use 3D printing for their sneakers three years ago, and have continued to create shoes using that technology. This could potentially open the door to other companies considering that route to create shoes in the near future. Dwight Howard may be latching onto something that could be quite beneficial down the line.
