During Saturday night's game between the Charlotte Hornets and the Miami Heat, center Dwight Howard became just the 19th player in NBA history to record 2,000 or more career blocks in the regular season.

Although his team lost 95-91 to the Heat at AmericanAirlines Arena, Howard had himself a very good game en route to 20 points, a game-high 16 rebounds, and four swats to get him to 2,000.

On their official team Twitter account, the Hornets congratulated Howard on such an impressive milestone in his illustrious 14-year NBA career.

Unfortunately for the Hornets, who led by as many as 15 points late in the third quarter, they simply went cold down the stretch on offense. As a team, Charlotte was held to only 13 points in the fourth quarter and missed their final five shots.

Via an article written by Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press:

“I don’t think we executed in the fourth quarter,” Howard said, who played 38 minutes of action on Saturday night. “They got some good stops and they were able on their end to make some buckets. We just have to do better.”

Hornets star point guard Kemba Walker, who had a game-high 30 points on the evening, attributed Miami's ability to rally and their success this season to strong discipline.

“They play really hard,” Walker said. “They are really disciplined and have a lot of heart. That’s why they’re so good.”

Saturday night's loss dropped Charlotte to a 6-14 record on the road this season. The Hornets (20-28) will have Sunday off before they travel to take on the Indiana Pacers (27-23) at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Monday night.
