Video: Kemba Walker misses game-winning layup after scoring 47 points
The Charlotte Hornets were still looking for a way out of their funk after dropping five straight entering their matchup versus the lowly Chicago Bulls. Despite their struggles, they have largely kept up with every team they have come across, losing four of the last five games by single digits.
They found themselves in position to finally get back in the win column once again during the final seconds of tonight’s game. Unfortunately, they came up just short after All-Star point guard Kemba Walker missed the game-winning layup.
It goes without saying that had he hit that shot against owner Michael Jordan’s old team, it would have been sweet poetic justice. Walker has been their go-to guy for some time now, so he has become all too accustomed to these types of situations. Although it was well-contested by rookie power forward Lauri Makkanen, that is a shot Walker likely makes nine times out of 10.
Despite failing to come through at the end, Walker’s big night was largely the reason the Hornets were in position to win the game in the first place. The Hornets star point guard scored 47 points on an efficient 17-of-27 from the field and 5-for-9 from three-point land. Walker came just five points shy of tying his career-high of 52 points versus the Utah Jazz in January 2016.
